Knitty's up Too!!

Don't you just love the beginning of a season? We get a change in our surrounding, cold weather gets warmer, hot weather get cooler. We also get a change in our knitting. With the arival of spring there are new patterns to keep us from actually knitting. Lighter weight yarns and projects are what we are looking for. I also tend to pick up crocheting in the summer months.

Right on cue, the spring/summer knitty.com is up.

I have to say I think it is a bit lite on projects I will want to knit. But there are some nice options to concider.

The most intriguing pattern is sporting a new knitting technique! Even my DH asked if there really could be a new way to knit something.

The answer is Verdant by Susan Newhall. She has figured out how to do a combination "fair-isle" and "intarsia" at the same time that gives you the look of intarsia without all the crossing over colors and weaving in ends. Amazing! I can not wait to give this a try. Look how airy that looks. I love the piece. Just think of all the intarsai pieces that you have had your eye on but didn't want to deal!

Amiga by Mags Kandis is a lovely light weight cardi that would be great for summer. Another way to use fingering weight yarns.

Daedalus by Jodie Gordon Lucas Not only is this a flatering style it is also a very popular garment right now. The story of Daedalus and Icarus that inspired this knit is a great vision to ponder as you knit your "wings"

There are couple of nice lace projects. Omelet by Joyce Fassbender is probably the most ambitious of them.

With Franklin Habit's vintage inspired Neckerchief one of the simpler ones. I love the simplicity of this piece along with his write up on vintage knits.

Socks would be next. I really like two of the patterns. Lots of cables and interesting contruction to keep on interested.

Ornamental by Nuoska

Susanna Sock by Stefanie Bold

Then there are the articles. I really like knitty's "yarn round table" where about 30 knitter get togther to swatch yarns and then rate in several different catagories. I find this to be very helpful when I can not touch the yarn myself.

Now you have both Knitty and Twist Collective up and ready for hours of dreaming,

What are you going to be knitting first??
