Knitting Retreat at Lake Arrowhead

The beginning of November, 16 of us ventured up to Lake Arrowhead for a weekend of knitting, food, and friendship. We had the best time ever. The house was beautiful and right on the lake. The weather we sunny and lots of knitting was done.

I brought up the pattern (Ravelry) and scrap yarn and corks for us to knit these really cute gnomes. It was a lot of fun watching these little guys come to life one by one.

I hope you can join us for the next Retreat!!

Ravelry Night June 10 from 7-9  FREE

What is Ravelry?

If you are asking that question then this class is for you. Ravelry is one stop shoping for everything knitting, crochet, yarn and patterns. It is a data base that is added to by the over 350,000 memebers on a daily basis with pictures and paticulars about their finished projects.

Want to knit the "Monkey" sock pattern. Put that in the search and you will have over 9000 versions with lots of information to help you make decisions about your pair.

If you have 600 yards of a worsted yarn you can search out patterns that take that amount of yarn. It really is endless.

You are going to spend the evening navigating around the site on your own computer. This is a hands on class and it is lots of fun. Don't have an account with Ravelry yet? That's ok, come and find out what all the buzz is about.

You will need to bring your laptop and a plug.

Space is limited so send me an email to reserve your seat.

We had a Full House! Picture 11 knitters all working hard at their computers. Now that is not something you see us doing as a group every day.

Every one was very new to Ravelry so we took two hours and navigated that whole site.

We learned how to:

~ search for patterns

~ search for yarns for patterns

~ how to find the best eye candy on Ravelry

~ How to make friends and why one would want to

~ How to add books to the library and then look at all the patterns in the books in your library

~ How to add stash to your library and why you would want to.

(your husband will never look there for your yarn)

~ How to search for projects that are in your library and in your stash

I'm sure there was more. Everyone's heads where swimming by the time they left.

Thank you to all that came and thank you to all those behind the genius that is Ravelry!!

Movie Night: Friday May 29

Let’s get together for food, wine, knitting and a good classic movie! Hint: A very Handsome leading man learns to knit, and yes it is a comedy.

Doors will open at 6 pm.

The movie will start around 7’ish. Closing will be when the food and wine are all gone! I can accommodate about 15 people. Bring finger food to share and of course your knitting/crochet. Email me to save your seat.

A great time was had by all!

There was a lot of knitting going on for the first hour and of course the lights stayed on while we watched Mr. Lucky with Cary Grant. The reason I picked this movie is because it has these great scenes where Mr. Grant has to learn to knit for the war effort he has just joined for auspicious reasons.

" It would be good for other men to see a man knitting" and I would add "not just any man"! To his chagrin he was knitting before long with other men looking over his shoulder. Before long we where seeing men knitting in very "manly" types of places. Very funny and made the whole movie.

I had a great time and was surprised and happy to see a lot of the movie goers up early and here for Sat. morning knitting. We are such a lost cause when it comes to yarn and needles.
